Ukraine minerals deal

The market jumped to 100% and resolved Yes before any deal was signed.

The title said

Will Ukraine and the US sign a minerals deal by [date]?

The rules said

Resolution was left to the oracle's reading of 'consensus of credible reporting' about an agreement being signed, without defining 'signed' or naming a source.

What happened

Reporting of an agreement in principle was enough for the oracle vote to resolve Yes. Traders called it a market failure. The deal was signed later, but the market had already paid.

The lesson

'Consensus of credible reporting' with no named source means the outcome is whatever the voters read that day.
