Municipal elections are scheduled for November 4, 2026 in South Africa. This market resolves to whoever first officially becomes Mayor of Johannesburg after the 2026 municipal elections. The person must be elected mayor by the Johannesburg City Council. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election don't count. If the election result isn't known by June 30, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves to "Other". The main source is official information from the South African government, including the Electoral Commission of South Africa, but a consensus of credible reporting can also be used.
